What is Airsoft?
Airsoft is a game and often becomes a hobby. It originated in the Far East where it is extremely popular.
The Players
People who play at our airsoft events like to shoot guns without hurting anyone or getting hurt themselves.
We enjoy the challenge and fantasy of role playing scenarios and the opportunity to build stamina, confidence and practice outdoor survival techniques and field-crafts. Here at AMO we aim to create imaginative and interesting scenarios based on the challenge of imaginary future survival situations.
The Teams
Most airsoft game scenarios require teams. Players can attend events either as their own pre-formed teams or as individuals whereby marshals will put together a team on the day.
The Airsoft community is growing, spread the word and get yourself a team!
At Airsoft Mobile Ops teams then choose to play as one of our tribes. Each tribe represents a tactical outlook. You can choose the tribe that you most relate too. Alternatively, add diversity to your game and choose a different tribe at the next event (and gain insight to your future opponents tactics!) Game play will challenge your abilities of stealth, focus and fire control. Players staying overnight can practice basic survival skills.
Airsoft Challenges
Our challenges take about 1 hour to complete and are a great introduction to the world of airsoft. You will get the opportunity to try out some great new airsoft equipment, choose your weapon and equip it with a choice of sights, then venture out to complete our challenge.
The Guns
Airsoft guns are highly detailed replicas of authentic firearms and are exact in every detail to their real counterparts. With an effective range of up to 200' and most are fully automatic, using electrically powered gearboxes, spring action, or gas power to shoot bb's that are 6mm in dimension and .20 in weight. Although Airsoft guns are technically toys and should not to be confused with more dangerous BB or pellet guns, some countries declare airsoft as weapons simply for their authentic looks.
Most players use standard Electric Airsoft Guns AEG's. AEG's typically shoot around 280-310 fps (feet per second). Although AEG’s s are the most desirable for their high capacity ammo, batteries, and power… The skills of the player are most definitely more important than the gun.
Airsoft Mobile Ops limit the velocity to 400 fps (ft/sec) or less with .20g ammunition at our events.
.25g bb is heavier than a .20g bb and therefore reduces the velocity and fps, depending on the length and type of barrel, this can be from 5-10 fps for 'short' barrels up to 35-45 fps for 'long' barrels.
Maintenance of airsoft guns is advised to keep them working optimally.

The Batteries
Generally, the larger the gun the larger the battery.
A large battery should last for a day's play, a smaller pack up to half a day. 2 large batteries should be adequate for a one day event. 3 to be sure. Payers driving to an event can use car Battery Charger (w/DC capability), if they have one.
Communications
Aside from hand signals for silent, close quarters communications between team members, FRS type 2-way radios can be advantageous to team game play- we recommend the Motorola Talkabouts. Full 38 primary and 14 secondary channel range is ideal.
Pyrotechnics
Players bringing pyrotechnics must inform the Marshals at the entrance checkpoint. Some Pyrotechnics can be bought and used at the AMO games.
